About us.Regional newsMaking Progress In The East Region The WSF Eastern Branch was set up in December 2003 in response to a desire for some time to establish an active voice for Womens Sport across the region. The group, chaired by Chris Jones of Sport England East comprises key representation from a variety of agencies involved in the development of sport and physical activity across the East including Cambridge City Council, Essex County Council, Luton Sports Action Zone, Fenland District Council and Peterborough City Council with support from the Regional Active Sports Consortium. The group has moved quickly to constitute itself as an official WSF Group and establish some short term priorities for the region that include the commissioning of regional research into women and girls sport that will provide baseline data / evidence and provide a focus for the lobbying and advocacy role the group considers so important. The group is currently working hard to resource the research project through working in partnership with a host of stakeholder agencies including Active Sports, Sport England East and the Regional Development Agency (EEDA). It is hoped that this research will be up and running by late Spring and completed in time for a regional launch conference that will take place on November 10th 2004 in Cambridge. Women in Sport is the only magazine dedicated solely to the issues facing women and girls in sport. Subscribe © The Womens Sports Foundation 2004 Registered charity number |
