A Lifecycle Challenge River Lee Country Park, Hertfordshire Sunday 11th June 2006 |
The 10-mile route is wholly within the River Lee Country Park, meaning that you do not need to ride on any public roads. From the start, the route will follow the park's designated pathways along rivers, through woodland, around lakes and will bring you back to your starting position to cross the finishing line.
The route will be sign posted and marshalled in key points to ensure that you follow the correct pathways and for your safety.
A map of the park can be downloaded here [Adobe Acrobat Document].
The start and finish area is located off of Highbridge Street at the Showground entrance. The route follows Horsemill Stream northwards, circles Seventy Acres Lake and north again to Kings Weir. Riders will then travel southwards down the east edge of the park to the YHA village and a loop around Cheshunt Lake leads south back to the finish area.
The start of the event will be at 11.00am. Cyclists will be set off in 'waves' so to alleviate overcrowding at the beginning of the course.
We would advise participants to arrive at the site from 10.00am onwards to ensure that they have plenty of time to get their bikes and themselves ready for action.
If hiring a bike, please make sure that you allow enough time to pick up your bike from the YHA and cycle the 10 minute ride to the starting area.
A warm up with all riders with take place in the starting area at 10.50am.
We would anticipate most riders returning to the finish by 12.30pm-1.30pm, in time to enjoy some well deserved lunch, music, activities and the information stands (see 'More than a cycle ride').
Participants entering individually must be 18 years of age or over on the day of the event. However participants aged between 16 and 18 years of age may enter as part of a team as long as the team has at least one adult aged over 18.

Entry can be completed by downloading [Adobe Acrobat Document] and completing an application form and sending a cheque payment.
Once entered, participants will receive an 'Event Information Pack' with their participant rider number, event details, fundraising ideas and a sponsorship form.
